Free browser extension, by Ledgerbrook

# Ledgerdock

Get around QuickBooks Online from the keyboard. Search any page, jump to a report in two keys, and keep notes on the page they're about. Built by bookkeepers for the screens we spend all day in.

[Add to Chrome, free](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/nkjepacepjfalcaalnenbkkibpcpdgom)

Works in Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Works with QuickBooks Online; not affiliated with Intuit.

What it does

## Search every page from one box

Press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows) and type. 186 pages, reports and new-transaction forms, matched as you type. Type an amount such as 1,250.00 or a document number and it jumps straight to the matching transactions.

## Two-key shortcuts that follow one rule

The first key says what you want to do and the second is the first letter of where. A hint shows the options after the first key, and ? opens the full list. Shortcuts pause while you type in a field.

## A side panel for the file you're in

Switch between client companies, keep favorite pages per client or for all of them, and see the open tabs for each company.

## Notes on the page they belong to

Leave a note on a reconciliation or a report and it's there next time you open that page in that company. Company-wide notes too. Links in notes are clickable.

## A warning before you post into a closed period

When a transaction date falls on or before the books' close date, a red notice appears under the date field. It never blocks anything; it just tells you.

## Report drilldowns in a new tab

Click an amount on a summary report and the detail opens in its own tab, so the summary stays exactly where you left it.

The shortcuts

## g goes to a page, r opens a report, n starts something new

Customers are always c and vendors are always v, which is why the receivables aging is r c and the payables aging is r v. Every shortcut can be changed in the side panel.
